Jersey bowler Ross Davis suffered a disappointing 21-12 loss to Fairul Izwan Abd Muin of Malaysia in the men’s singles quarterfinal at the Commonwealth Games.
The 28-year-old led 4-2 after five sets, but the Malaysian made eight shots in the next two sets to build a lead that he never relinquished.
Davis managed to take it back to 14-12 in the final 14th.
But seven shots in the next two sets took Abd Muin to the semifinals.
Davis’ loss ends Jersey’s realistic chances of a first Commonwealth Games medal since 1990, as the island only has riders in the men’s and women’s road cycling races to compete on Sunday.
